Hunting Laws Need To Be Well Defined In Many Countries To Preserve Wild Lives

Hunting is killing of any wildlife animal. It can be for food or it can be taken as a recreational activity. In ancient days hunting was a necessity for survival and people killed animal primarily for food. However, hunting has also evolved as a recreational activity. Though many wild life saving organizations have condemned hunting of wildlife animals, hunting of animals is still popular in many countries. There are also legal and illegal hunting. Legal hunting is hunting animals which are permitted and is allowed in specific places. However, illegal hunting is hunting animals for trade and selling it for medicinal or any other purpose.

Almost all countries have strict laws concerning illegal hunting. Recreational hunting is also allowed for specified species. Hunting of rare species of animals is prohibited and the person has to pay heavy fine or imprisonment according to the law of that country. Illegal hunting happens across the world especially with rare wild animals. Hunting elephants for their ivory is common in many countries. Ivory is quite expensive and has a huge market worldwide. Ivory is used to make different handcrafts and is popular among tourists. So many elephants are hunted for this purpose though there are strict laws concerning elephant hunting.

Tiger hunting is also popular and many countries have come out with laws concerning the same. Since tiger’s have become less in numbers, an effort has been taken to preserve them. However, many hunters, still hunt tigers for pleasure. There have been many campaigns and measures taken by forest department to preserve wildlife. Stringent laws and execution of the same can only help in preventing hunting of rare species.

Hunting Sports

Hunting is one of the oldest sports which has stood the test of time. Though civilization has grown and lot of newer and exciting sporting activities have come, hunting still continues to be the favorite sports for many persons. In fact even in today’s world of internet and computers, hunting still continues to occupy the pride of place as far as adventure sports are concerned. Though it is an exciting and fun-filled sports activity, it could turn out to be dangerous and even a killer if proper precautions are not taken.

The basic thing that you should be knowing as a reasonably good hunter is to walk properly while holding a gun. The muzzle of the gun should always be pointing away from you or your companions to avoid accidents which may be caused by pressing the trigger unintentionally. Before leaving for a hunting expedition make sure that your preparations are full and to the extent fool proof. Never leave anything to chance because you may not get a second chance at all. Further, to be on the safer side, it would always be very useful for you to leave the details of your itinerary to some members of your family, in case an emergency arises.

See that the weapon you are carrying is working fine and ensure that you are carrying the right amount of bullets needed for the entire expedition. Never forget your cell-phone and your first aid kit. These could be life savers in a hostile and dangerous environment. Your first aid kit amongst other things should most certainly contain a snake-bite kit because forests are known to be infested with a variety of snacks some of which could be highly lethal and poisonous. Carrying a cell phone makes sense even if you have a problem of signals not reaching it. You can always send a message to your near and dear ones which will at least help you to be in touch.

Wear a neon or orange headgear of handkerchief on your head to avoid hitting your friends and companions by mistake.

Ancient Hawaiin Surfing

For the Ancient Hawaiin people, surfing wasn’t a past time, or a fad taking place in Southern California complete with its own Beach Boy soundtrack, it was an art, a part of their very culture. They called it he’e nalu meaning “wave sliding.” Praying for strength to combat the god of the ocean, ancient Hawaiians beseeched this mystical being, fully appreciating the great power of the water. They even had their priests “kahuna” pray to their gods for great surfing conditions. Before entering the water, the Kahuna helped the upper class surfers of the day in constructing a surfboard, which at the time was considered a spiritual ceremony.

These boards could only be constructed of one of three trees: Koa, ‘ulu, or wiliwili.  The ancient surfers would carefully select the right tree, dig it out of the ground and placing fresh fish in the hole to appease their gods. The tree was taken into town where craftsman actually shaped the boards, smoothed and stained them in preparation for sliding on the waves.  There were three shapes and lengths that were adhered to when constructing a board: the “olo” a board that had a thick middle and tapered edges. The “kiko’o” was a board between 12 and 18 feet in length and could only be maneuvered by someone with tremendous amount of skill, and the final board the “alaia” which was only 9 feet in length, but required a master to ride.

The upper classes were the ones to master the boards, reserving the best waves and beaches for themselves. The best surfers were also the chiefs and warriors, and surfing only added to the respect they received from others.  Lower classes couldn’t surf on the same beaches as those from higher classes, but should they develop great skill on a board they were regarded with great respect just the same.

You have a kite, kind of like a sail, attached to your board and you are propelled through the water, and the air, according to wind speeds. The bigger your kite, the bigger waves you’ll be able to ride. Kiteboarding is a fairly easy sport to learn, at least when you compare it to traditional surfing. Most new riders get on their board in just two or three tries. But that doesn’t mean that kiteboarding isn’t dangerous. You still need to take precautions out on the water and protect yourself.

What Kind of Equipment

If you are ready to try kiteboarding, you’re going to need the right equipment. Of course, you’ll need a board and a kite. But what else will you need? You’ll also need a control bar and a harness. This will help you keep control of your board. Just like with surfing and wakeboarding, you’ll also want a wetsuit or a good swimming suit. It’s also a good idea to wear a helmet. If you are beginning, it’s highly recommended that you wear a helmet.

Kiteboarding is fun and exciting! If you are ready to try a new sport, then kiteboarding may be exactly what you are looking for. Grab a board, a kite, and a helmet, and head out on the water. You’re going to fall in love with kiteboarding!
